You shouldn’t say that to a single girl!

I went over to Norman’s House – my husband, well, he was gonna be. We said we were going to get married and his parents said, ‘Do you have to get married?’

I was astounded! And I said, ‘I hope my mum and dad don’t think that – I’m going home to find out!’

I was fuming! What a thing to ask a single girl – I was eighteen. Oh I was fuming! I went home and I said, ‘You didn’t think that did you mam?’

‘Sure I didn’t – I wouldn’t think that of my daughter!’
